1/17/2024 0 Comments Tales of arise earth seedIf you still think grinding is required in most JRPGs, try this: Next time you play a JRPG, don't grind. Just like you have to grind in, say, an open world game's optional content. Of course you have to grind in optional content. Optional content might require grinding, but that's optional content. The speedup is there because the battles and game overall are slow, so having speedup is nice. Besides, in most of those games you still don't need to grind (FFVII, FFIX, and FFXII for example). Huh? A lot of them? A few older games that were re-released have this feature, but it's not common, and it's non-existent in newer games. I can't even remember the last game I had to grind in, and I play JRPGs constantly.Ī lot of them include turbo mode so you can grind at 6x the normal game speed Practically the only well-known games where grinding is required are the early Dragon Quest games and other games from the late 80s/early 90s, when grinding WAS the gameplay. Devs know how to design them so you don't need to grind. The exact opposite is true: most JRPGs do not require grinding. So I'd uncap it as much as I could and basically just autopilot it.Īrise removes the need for that, but makes combat fun enough that you want to. I know some oldschool purists might miss it but heck, even in the old days, I'd play my JRPGS on ePSXE and by accident I uncapped the frame rate once, how I found it doubled the games speed, and from then on it was the ONLY way for me to grind in JRPGS. Not so in Arise, they are essential for some of the harder fights and I like that! There's a MEME about not using them in other games, but in this one you don't hesitate. Almost every JRPG you ever played from PS1 to today, Potions and whatnot.are useless pretty much, or fill very niche spots. Items are extremely valuable and I like that. I am by no means a good player, but it feels great. I'm about 30~ hours in and approaching what I think is the end(unless I'm really at the half-way point, but I somehow doubt it, probably 6-8 hours left), and playing on Hard Mode. However with Arise, I feel like most fights, as long as you don't avoid EVERY enemy on the way to the boss fights, you come in at the right level for it to be a decent challenge.and I think that's great. Most JRPGS you need to go grind, so much so a lot of them include turbo mode so you can grind at 6x the normal game speed.
